StoneX Retires City Index UK Brand and Rebrands to StoneX Trading

StoneX Group has officially announced that it is retiring the well-known City Index brand in the United Kingdom. Moving forward, all new retail accounts in the region will be established under the newly introduced StoneX Trading identity. The transition marks a significant shift as the corporation consolidates its retail forex and CFD offerings under its flagship corporate banner.

Despite the name change, current clients using the service will experience minimal operational disruption. Existing users will keep their current accounts, trading platforms, and customer support arrangements intact. The migration focuses primarily on new registrations and updating the outward-facing web and mobile application branding.

The complete retirement of the legacy brand is scheduled for September 12. The StoneX Trading portal is already live, guiding incoming traffic and new account applications away from the older domain. This update is part of a broader, multi-year integration strategy following StoneX's acquisition of GAIN Capital several years ago.

Industry observers note that this strategic consolidation comes at a time when retail trading revenues face increased pressure. Financial reports from the parent group indicated a drop in retail FX and CFD earnings, prompting a streamlined approach to marketing and brand equity. By uniting services under the master StoneX brand, the firm aims to boost operational efficiency and brand recognition.

For retail traders, the core mechanics of trading, execution speeds, and spreads remain unchanged for now. However, traders should note the updated website URLs, legal entity naming conventions, and mobile app updates. PropFXLab will continue to monitor how broker consolidations impact retail trading conditions and platform availability.
