The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has officially disclosed a €100,000 financial penalty against Titanedge. This regulatory action arrives just two weeks after the CFD broker abruptly stopped providing investment services and began pursuing a voluntary surrender of its operating licence.
Although the enforcement announcement was made public recently, CySEC clarified that the penalties stem from compliance violations recorded between 2023 and 2024. These infractions occurred well before the broker decided to wind down its commercial activities.
CySEC divided the total €100,000 fine into distinct categories reflecting the nature of the breaches. A €30,000 penalty was issued because Titanedge routinely provided unauthorized investment advice. While the entity held a Cyprus Investment Firm licence, advisory services fell outside its authorized regulatory scope.
An additional €30,000 penalty was applied due to further regulatory shortcomings discovered during the commission's investigation. The remaining portion of the fine addresses governance and internal control failures within the organization during the operational period.
The case underscores the strict oversight European regulators maintain over licensed financial entities. Even as brokers choose to exit the market or surrender licences, historical compliance infractions remain subject to investigation and heavy monetary penalties.
